The best mods in Dying Light 2 will heavily depend on playstyle, but for each type of player, a few mods stand out from the rest. Whether it is during the early or late game might change some setup, but there is a lot of room to work within Dying Light 2. These are some of the best builds and weapon mods for Dying Light 2.

Early Game Mods

Both the Toxic and Shock mods stand out the most out of the earliest game mods. The early game builds with these rely heavily on critical hits to activate them. Toxic will stagger enemies, making it possible to vault over them and deliver a Vault Kick to any other enemy within range. This is especially useful during the beginning because it will temporarily take an enemy out of commission while also having reliable damage and knockback from the Vault Kick. Players can get their hands on more combat skills to make this much more effective, and it is an effective way of taking advantage of the stagger mechanic without needing to Parry.

Shock is useful as well as it will temporarily stun enemies while dealing a burst of damage to the enemy. This can chain to multiple enemies as well and is a good form of crowd control. Its reliance on getting a critical hit to activate doesn’t make it very reliable, however, when it happens, it can bail players out of a bad situation.

Best Weapon Mods

There are countless builds that players can aim for, but some mods still stand out and can be useful regardless of the build players have. Slaughter mods are Blast mods that you can activate on a cooldown. They cause Toxic on enemies in a radius, making them chain vaulted over for continuous Vault Kicks or used as a chance for a quick escape. You can acquire this from the Fish Eye vendor.

Catapult works similarly, causing enemies to be knocked back while dealing high amounts of damage. It is a Blast mod that can be activated on cooldown and is one of the most effective ways of dealing with large groups of enemies. You can acquire this from the Peacekeepers’ Floating Fortress vendor.

Inferno mods are also extremely useful but more niche. Inferno deals high amounts of Fire damage and can be acquired during The Raid Quest. Mods that cause Bleed are useful for larger enemies, but the Slit mod is the best. It does more damage and is especially good for the special infected of the game because you can use it to apply Bleed, and then players can use the rest of their weapons to deal with the normal groups of enemies. It can be acquired from the Fish Eye vendor.
